ADA Parking Lot Striping & Handicap Compliance
Code correct accessible parking stalls, access aisles, and International Symbol of Access markings, done right the first time.
What This Service Covers
ADA compliant parking is not optional. The Americans with Disabilities Act requires a specific number of accessible spaces based on your total stall count, and each one has to be the right width, marked with the right access aisle, and identified with a properly sized International Symbol of Access. Get it wrong and you're exposed to fines, lawsuits, and complaints.
LineCraft Striping handles ADA work for businesses, churches, clinics, schools, and municipal properties throughout Northwest Minnesota. We know the current ADA stall counts (1 accessible space per 25 standard for the first 100, scaling from there), the 60-inch access aisle minimum (96 inches for van accessible), the required 8-foot stall width (or 11-foot for van), and the ISA symbol sizing and placement rules. We mark everything in white or blue traffic grade paint to match your existing layout.
What's Included
- Correctly sized accessible stalls (8' standard, 11' van accessible)
- Access aisles (5' minimum, 8' for van accessible)
- International Symbol of Access (ISA), properly sized and placed
- "NO PARKING" markings in striped access aisles
- Signage installation available as an add-on (quoted separately)
- Layout review to make sure your stall count meets ADA requirements
Why It Matters
ADA noncompliance is one of the easiest ways for a property owner to end up with a complaint or lawsuit. A properly striped accessible parking layout protects your business and shows your customers that everyone is welcome.
Pricing
ADA stall pricing depends on stall count, whether it's a restripe or new layout, and what's already there. Bundle pricing is available when done alongside a full lot restripe. Request a free quote for your specific layout.
Our Process
- On site measurement and stall count, we verify your total stall count and required ADA stall ratio.
- Layout plan, we mark out stalls, access aisles, and symbol placement before any paint touches pavement.
- Surface prep, we sweep and clean the marking area so paint properly bonds.
- Painting, traffic grade striping paint applied with a professional machine for sharp, even lines.
- Symbol stenciling, ISA symbol applied with template for consistent sizing and placement.
- Final walkthrough, we walk the lot with you to confirm every stall meets spec before we leave.
Materials & Paint
We use traffic grade waterborne striping paint formulated for parking lot use, applied with a professional self propelled striper. The ISA symbol is laid down with reusable templates so the proportions and sizing match the current ADA standard every time.
When We Do It
ADA work can be done any time during the Minnesota striping season (late May through early October). The same temperature and humidity rules apply as standard striping, we won't paint if the pavement is too cold, too wet, or too humid for proper cure.
Frequently Asked Questions
How many ADA stalls do I need for my lot?
ADA requires 1 accessible space for the first 1 to 25 total stalls, 2 for 26 to 50, 3 for 51 to 75, 4 for 76 to 100, and so on. At least 1 of every 6 must be van accessible. We'll review your layout and make sure you're compliant.
Do you handle the vertical signs too?
Yes, I can install ADA signs as an add-on to a stripe job. It shows up as its own line item on the quote so you can see exactly what the signs cost versus the striping. Just let me know what you need and I will include it.
Will the ISA symbol fade fast?
Not when it's done with traffic grade paint and properly applied. We use the same paint we use for stripes, so the symbol holds up just as long as the rest of the markings.
What happens if I'm not compliant and get a complaint?
Property owners and tenants can be exposed to ADA Title III complaints and DOJ enforcement, which can mean expensive remediation orders, attorney fees, and possible damages. The cost of bringing your lot into compliance is almost always a fraction of the cost of a complaint.
Can you fix a lot that has the wrong stall count or wrong dimensions?
Yes. I can black out noncompliant markings and restripe to current ADA spec.
